Age 14-19 (high school). Must be able to demonstrate a Red Cross level 5 swimming ability.
Day and Time: M-TH 3:30-4:30
Start Date: January 9th until April 20th, with no classes the week of spring break (3/20-3/24)

South Shore Health and Racquet Club: Stroke Clinic Spring 2023

Description:
Stroke Clinic focuses on technique for the 4 competitive strokes Freestyle (front crawl) , Breaststroke, Back Crawl and Butterfly and developing endurance. Students will work drills for each stroke breaking down the components of each to increase their efficiency. Introduction to starts, turns and finishes will be touched upon as well.
Students must be able to swim 25yrds of Freestyle (front crawl) and 25 yards of Back Crawl to participate.

Students must attend at least 1 day per week but are encouraged to attend as many as possible throughout the semester.

Please be sure to register online with the Berrien Springs Partnership and be mindful of your YMCA branch locations. You will be contacted by the YMCA, via e-mail or telephone, regarding course specifics. *For late registrations (outside registrations dates), or changes, please contact the partnership as well as the YMCA.
*You must attend a minimum of 3 times a week, practice or a scheduled swim event. This class requires a self-paid YMCA membership.
**Days and times for classes may change, please contact the YMCA for days and times.** Attendance must begin in September. First meeting is Aug. 31 at 5pm at the BH-SJ YMCA for Dolphins and Sept. 2 at 4:30pm at the Niles YMCA for Mariners.

****Parents cannot stay in class with the student, it is drop off only. They are welcome to attend 'Watch Me Swim' days as offered, and they can stay in the lobby to observe the lessons, but they can't be in the pool area.

*Please note: it is important to make as informed a decision as possible when choosing your student's Community Resource classes. Most locations will allow a student to drop a class after one meeting, at no charge if it wasn't a good fit for the student, but not all. Some classes plan ahead based on the number that have signed up and have purchased materials, hired teachers, etc. and there might be a fee for class time or materials given to the student if the student drops after one or two meetings. The school cannot pay for classes that students do not complete, so choose wisely; if you do not take the class off of your student's schedule by the deadline, you may be asked to pay for the class time incurred prior to dropping the class.

- Speed: be able to swim at a quick pace for a short, or moderate distance.
- Attitude: be able to encourage other swim club members and be always ready to do your best.
