Berrien BookShark: Parent Driven, School Supported

Want to homeschool but are overwhelmed by choices or don't know where to start?  Is the cost of curriculum a barrier to your desire to educate your children at home?  Is 100% virtual school not the best option for your family?

Berrien BookShark fills the gap for those who desire a more traditional homeschool education, or cannot attend public school or have found that online school is not the solution for their family.

NEW for '22-'23 School Year - Pilot Year Details:

*K-5, full traditional school year
*All core curriculum provided, including Handwriting, with parental choice of vendor for Math
*Flexible Language Arts choices for students wanting a greater challenge and more reading material
*Placement testing if desired or recommended
*Registration assistance by Berrien BookShark manager to help customize curriculum to each student's needs
*Parent-graded work and tests, with certified teacher support if needed
*Each family is assigned to a mentor teacher for grading and content support as needed as well as weekly contacts for electives
*2 Partnership electives included per semester (Fall and Spring)
*Available to homeschool families in Berrien, Cass and VanBuren counties

Registration Process:

*Attend one of 2 parent information sessions (pick your preferred time) to answer questions and assess interest in the program.  *Families who are very interested after attending a session and would like to register for it will have a private 'interview' with Amy Scott to really review the material and answer specific questions in order to make sure everyone understands how the curriculum works.
*Official registration will be in late April or in May on a first-come, first-served basis.  Only families who have interviewed with Amy will be able to register.   BSPS full-time student
enrollment paperwork and supporting documents (birth certificate, immunization record, etc.) will be required.

Information Sessions:

Where: Berrien Springs Virtual Academy Conference Room: 501 Middle School Drive., Berrien Springs
Date: Thursday, April 7  OR  Tuesday, April 12
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
