Cooking I
Thursdays 9:30 to 10:30am
Course Outline may be adjusted for current student/parent expectations. Basics, from scratch. Kitchen safety, cleanliness, how to analyze ingredient labels………..cooking by method , apron and hair cover required. Food allergies and intolerances contact Janine directly.
Cooking II
Thursday 10:45 to 12:15pm
Prerequisite: Cooking I or interview
Course Outline may be adjusted for current student/parent expectations. Working with the skills learned in Cooking I. We will review, reinforce and improve. Details such as spice and herb identification, sauces, fillings and menu planning. Ethnic foods, seasonal availability, and preservation. Garden choices.
Cooking III
Thursdays 12:30 to 2:00pm
Prerequisite: Cooking II or interview
Course Outline may be adjusted for current student/parent expectations. Students will meet with parents to determine the two semester schedule. We will study seasonal meals and eating for better health. Creating a cookbook to follow the first will be essential and recipes will be tested. Potential Serve safe NRA testing, or seminar.
Cooking IV Advanced
Thursday 12:30 to 2:00pm
Prerequisite: Cooking III or interview

*Please note: it is important to make as informed a decision as possible when choosing your student's Community Resource classes. Most locations will allow a student to drop a class after one meeting, at no charge if it wasn't a good fit for the student, but not all. Some classes plan ahead based on the number that have signed up and have purchased materials, hired teachers, etc. and there might be a fee for class time or materials given to the student if the student drops after one or two meetings. The school cannot pay for classes that students do not complete, so choose wisely; if you do not take the class off of your student's schedule by the deadline, you may be asked to pay for the class time incurred prior to dropping the class.
