HIP HOP STUDIO
Class description: If you love to listen to Hip Hop and want to learn how to make it, then this is the class for you. Rappers, DJs, singers, producers, songwriters and serious fans of the genre are all welcome.
Hip Hop is here to stay, but it never stays the same. From its roots in the funky soul of the 1960’s to its increasing influence in today’s popular culture, Hip Hop has evolved and branched out to include an ever-increasing variety of artists and styles. We’ll explore that world in Hip Hop Studio.
Class times will include critical listening, hands-on equipment demonstrations and music-production sessions. Students will learn to recognize, appreciate and then employ the techniques and technologies commonly used in hip hop production, like microphones, mixers, synthesizers, drum machines, turn-tables, samplers, effects and recording software.
Students will complete the course with a new appreciation for the genre and the techniques to make their own tracks. Finished songs will be uploaded to the studio’s YouTube channel.

*Please note: it is important to make as informed a decision as possible when choosing your student's Community Resource classes. Most locations will allow a student to drop a class after one meeting, at no charge if it wasn't a good fit for the student, but not all. Some classes plan ahead based on the number that have signed up and have purchased materials, hired teachers, etc. and there might be a fee for class time or materials given to the student if the student drops after one or two meetings. The school cannot pay for classes that students do not complete, so choose wisely; if you do not take the class off of your student's schedule by the deadline, you may be asked to pay for the class time incurred prior to dropping the class.
