Trip October 8-13, 2017
Students will be immersed in nature, Pioneer and Native American ways of life through arts, crafts, technology of the time and the culture of GSMNP! Animals, waterfalls, scavenger hunt nature hikes, there is so much to see, do and learn for the whole family.

This is a family outdoor education class leading up to a four day exploration of Smoky Mountain National park. Pre-trip classes will include preparation for camping, hiking and safety in nature/park. At GSMNP activities will include walking and automobile explorations, human history and culture, rivers, trails and forests. We will camp in a park campground and cook our meals outdoors. Student gear provided will include firewood, stoves, pots and mess kit. This is a front country, car camping trip. Food preparation and clean-up will be group activities.
Per parent rate is $200.00 for this four day trip. The fee per child ages1 to 4 is $100. All children of partnership age should be registered for the class. All tours, entrance fees, guided hikes and tuition is included and most food*. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to/from and within GSMNP (about 9.5 hours from Berrien Springs/Niles), personal clothing, sleeping bag and tent. (*Two evenings there will be free-time for families to explore the area on their own. All expenses incurred during this time will need to be provided by the parent/guardian.)

Pre/Post Evaluation details: A multiple choice, and True and False test is given the first and last class.
Attendance: You are required to attend 100% of the dates and times your course meets unless prearranged. 10% of your overall grade will be calculated based on your attendance.
