POLICY  -   please read carefully:

Each trip 'Experience' is designed as a resource to complement the learning that your student is already participating in through Partnership classes. These experiences are available to all students on a first-signed up basis.  Our goal is to prompt further exploration and discovery for your student and take them to another level of learning. The list of trips has been made available to building principals so that they may offer them to their teachers if they fit into their schedule to take their class.

We require that a parent or assigned chaperone accompany the student who is registered for each trip.  This means that any accompanying adult will have to pay their own fees as well as the fees of any other children  coming along who are not Partnership students. These fees are at reduced group rates and are posted after the description of each trip. We love for families to be able to enjoy these wonderful trips together! This is how lasting learning best happens.

I should mention as well, that it is SCHOOL WIDE POLICY ... that any adult coming along on a Field Trip must submit to a FREE background check yearly.  I will as well, tell you HOW to go about this .... after registration.  It is very simple.

If you find your family wanting to "join in" on a trip or two that appears FULL in registration, don't despair! You may still have opportunity to do so as cancellations take place. Please notify Becky Halcombe  rhalcombe@homeoftheshamrocks.org   of your intentions and interest in a trip that appears FULL ...as early as possible.  I will keep your name on a list until availability can be determined and numbers are finalized.

Transportation Options and Guidelines for Field Trip Experiences:

Picture
Indianapolis Children's Museum
During the registration process, you will be asked to choose one of the following modes of transportation for many of the Field Trips. If there is no mode of transportation offered, that means it is a DRIVE ONLY trip. Please be very intentional about choosing the mode of transportation that you think will work best for your family per given trip.

Plans can be changed but it is helpful to try to get details as straight as we can from the beginning. Thanks!

BUS transportation is provided:
  1. ... Unless the trip is within a 60 mile radius of the Berrien Springs
  2. ... Unless there aren't enough people signed up to justify the cost of a bus (which usually needs to be 15-20 people)
Families choosing to ride the BUS to a trip location will indicate such at registration time/ or communicate the change of such, to Becky Halcombe at the given email address:  rhalcombe@homeoftheshamrocks.org

Those choosing to ride the BUS to a trip location will meet at the Berrien Springs Middle School cafeteria prior to the trip briefly, for attendance and payment of adult & extra students fees.

* DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, a child of ANY age who is NOT a Berrien Springs Partnership student or Berrien Springs Public School student , may NOT ride the BUS, due to liability issues. We welcome these youngsters along on our trips. However, if you are bringing young children or NON Partnership students along, you will need to DRIVE to the Field Trip Location.
.
Your family may also DRIVE to a Field Trip location:
  1.  You may DRIVE and meet me at each trip location at the time indicated on the trip Itinerary sent out  to you the Monday before each trip.
  2.  If you prefer, you may follow the BUS to location.

PAYMENT for adults & extra (Non Partnership) students fees for each Field Trip will be collected at the location for those choosing to DRIVE.  (Payment is to be handed to Becky Halcombe in an envelope with your family's last name on the front; cash or a check made out to Berrien Springs Public Schools is acceptable)

Please contact Becky Halcombe with any questions or concerns you might have about the Field Trips.   rhalcombe@homeoftheshamrocks.org.

I look forward to a great semester with you and your family!
