EEME: Electronics Kits Class                                         Spring 2020

 Class meets monthly, kit assembly to be done at home.

Location: Lincoln Township Library, 2099 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, MI           

Students must be able to attend monthly meetings or they will no longer be able to receive weekly kits.  Kits for the first cumulative project will be handed out at the first monthly meeting.  If you take kits home and don't return to class or drop the class, you will be responsible for payment of all kits received. If payment is not received within a week of request, ALL partnership classes will be canceled immediately.

Monthly Mondays  6-8 PM

Kit pick up and introduction is Jan. 27, 2020
Ages 8-13

Description: Students will learn hands on electronics and the primary purpose is to
engage students in real component based electronics that when assembled together will
perform real tasks that they get to see and realize how things work that they use daily.
 
EEME (pronounced “Ee-Mee” stands for Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering
and the class is part of preparing students for STEM opportunities.
 
The course is based on the EEME website https://www.eeme.co/dashbrd that supplies

Course Highlights:• No previous electronics experience needed.
• Class meets monthly on Monday from 6-8PM (see schedule for details)
• Receive 12 electronics kits for the semester receiving 3 at a time each class.
• Assemble kits at home, following online video guided step by step instructions.
• Bring the previously assigned kits to monthly class. With instructions taught by Mr.
Gearhart in class, disassemble kits and use parts to create one larger, more complicated
device to expand the students’ knowledge!
• Repeat for a total of 4 class sessions per semester.
• We will meet at the beginning of the semester for a brief class orientation to distribute
the first months kits and class instructions when the kit orders have been received.
• Parents are encouraged to attend class and engage in class participation!

Optional Materials:  Compartment storage organizer with dividers used to keep electronic components organized.

• Continuation from EEME Beginner’s course (pre-requisite).
• Class meets monthly from 6-8PM (see schedule for details)
• Receive 7 electronics kits and build a Robot Rover with several add-on projects/with programming and class projects for the semester.
• Assemble kits at home, following online video guided step by step instructions.
• Bring the previously assigned kits to monthly class. With instructions taught by Mr.
Gearhart in class, disassemble kits and use parts to create one larger, more complicated
device to expand the students’ knowledge!
• Repeat for a total of 4 class sessions per semester.
• We will meet at the beginning of the semester for a brief class orientation to distribute
the first months kits and class instructions when the kit orders have been received.

*Please note: it is important to make as informed a decision as possible when choosing your student's Community Resource classes. Most locations will allow a student to drop a class after one meeting, at no charge if it wasn't a good fit for the student, but not all. Some classes plan ahead based on the number that have signed up and have purchased materials, hired teachers, etc. and there might be a fee for class time or materials given to the student if the student drops after one or two meetings. The school cannot pay for classes that students do not complete, so choose wisely; if you do not take the class off of your student's schedule by the deadline, you may be asked to pay for the class time incurred prior to dropping the class.
