Discovery Education  

Streaming videos from the Discovery Channel.   These are quality educational videos.  Your children may work together on these classes as long as they meet the grade level requirement.  The classes consist of 10-55 minute videos followed by 2-3 questions in a quiz format.  Each class has approximately 16-18 hours of videos.  The videos can be watched in Flash, QuickTime or Windows media.   You may take more than one discovery class at a time. Each class may only be taken once.

Discovering the Arts.  Grades 6-8  Visual and Performing Arts.  Cave Art, Rembrandt, Modern African Art, Michelangelo, Impressionism and more will be covered in this class.  Videos range in length from 20-55 minutes and have a 2-3 question quiz after each video.

Discovery Atlas.  Grades 6-12   Travel to China, Brazil, Australia, India and more with the Discovery Atlas program.  Learn about food, culture, and geography while enjoying beautiful video of the country and entertaining stories about the people who live there.  For example in Italy Alesandro attempts to be one of the 2 or 3 people each year allowed to become a gondolier.  The videos are 50 min. to 1 1/2 hours and each country has a fact filled 20 minute Short Stories revealed section.

Discovery Trips. Grades 6-12  A collection of virtual field trips from Discovery Education.. Enjoy virtual field trips such as Mount Kilimanjaro (examine the different biomes of the mountain) ,  National Energy Star Day (explore energy conservation), Red Ribbon Week (K-9s and their handlers), Tundra Connections (Polar bear capital of the world), and many others.

Liberty's Kids and Animated Heroes, Grades 1-5   Follow Liberty's Kids in this animated historical series set during the Revolutionary War.   Titles include Yorktown, We the People, and Across the Delaware.  Animated Hero's present the stories of famous people including Benjamin Franklin, Pocahontas, Christopher Columbus and many more.

Middle School Health.  Grades 6-8   This class covers the body, nutrition, chronic illness, disease and first aid.  Video titles include Food, Energy and You, Health Investigations with Dr. Know: Hearing, Lupus: A Medical Mystery, The Body's Defenses Against Disease, The Heimlich Maneuver and many more.   

National Parks and World's Best   Grades 3-8 Tour the National Parks and World's Best places with this discovery education class.  Visit the Caves of the National Parks, Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, and more in the National Park series.  The World's Best series looks at the World's Best Wild Cats, South America, Cool Animals, Natural Wonders, and more.
